This short and punchy document contains an overview of the different levels of aftersales pricing maturity. Aurelis Consulting has developed a framework to rate pricing performance in terms of “generations”, and coined a specific set of terminology. OEMs may use it to assess their pricing maturity in the context of what is currently possible and what likely future improvements will come into existence.

In order to make this report more vivid, Aurelis uses an analogy of fighter jet generations to explain the differences in “generational jumps” between technologies. Typically a “generational shift in fighter aircraft occurs when a technological innovation cannot be incorporated into an existing aircraft through upgrades and retrofits”. Likewise, making a generational leap in aftersales pricing requires a significantly new architecture as an enabler.
